1341. Tanta Village in J&K's Doda Gets Electricity for the First Time
- The Tanta village in Jammu and Kashmir's mountainous Doda district received electricity for the first time ending decades of darkness.
- The Doda district administration to ensure the electrification of the remote village within one month. Following the orders, the District Administration swept into action and the task of electrifying the remote village was completed in a record time of 10 days.
- Despite two to three feet deep snow, the entire administration and company involved in the electrification project were mobilised. Within 10 days, all the work including the erection of poles, installation of wires, and ensuring electricity supply to all the houses of the area, was completed.

1342. Saddal Village in Jammu & Kashmir Gets Electricity for the First Time
- After 75 years of Independence, the village Saddal of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur got freedom from darkness by getting electricity for the first time on wednesday, under the Central Government’s ‘Untied Grants Scheme’.
- As the houses have got electrified, natives of this village turned hopeful for a better future for their children. Earlier, the only source of light during the evening, in the village was candles and oil lamps, which gradually became a part of their day-to-day life.
- The villagers seem overjoyed as their long-pending demand for getting proper electricity has finally been fulfilled. For the success of this mission villagres gave credit to the three Tier system of the Panchayati Raj Act which was recently implemented in Jammu and Kashmir.

1343. Kashmir Village Lit Up for the First Time Since Independence
- The people of the tribal area in Tethan, Dooru of Anantnag district witnessed the lighting of electric bulbs under Indian Prime Minister "Har Ghar Bijli Yojna" for the first time.
- It is a very hilly village and have managed to provide electricity for these villagers for the first time. It was due to the schemes and efforts by the government to work so hard to provide these villagers with electricity. As these areas have no road access so we had to carry the material ourselves to install in these places
- The efforts made by the government to provide electricity for these far-flung areas have been appreciated by everyone in the Union Territory. The Power Development Department has been working extensively to provide electricity to areas still living in darkness.

1344. Centre approves ₹12,328 crore rail push across 5 states, adding 565 km network
- On August 28, 2025, it was reported that the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved four railway projects with a cost of INR 12,328 crore, a government press note .
- The projects comprise the construction of a new rail line connecting Deshalpar-Hajipir-Luna, and Vayor and Lakhpat, a third and fourth line between Secunderabad (Sanathnagar)-Wadi, a third line from Bhagalpur to Jamalpur, and doubling of the Furkating-New Tinsukia line.
- The estimated cost of the lines there is INR 2,526 crore, with a three-year construction deadline.
1345. UP’s first privately-run station: Gomti Nagar in Lucknow to offer airport-style food courts
- On August 28, 2025, it was reported that Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar Railway Station is set to become the first railway station in Uttar Pradesh to be managed privately.
- According to officials This change marks an important step in the modernisation of Indian Railways and is being introduced under the Integrated Station Facility Management System (ISFMS).
- Under this system, the day-to-day operations of the station, except for train movement, ticketing, and passenger security, will be handled by private companies.
1346. After 75 Years, Two Remote Villages Along LoC in Kupwara Get Electricity
- 1300 -Souls of remote villages Kundiyan and Patroo of Keran along the line of control (LOC) in Kupwara district, as their villages for the first time got electricity supply (through grid connectivity).
- Two Sub Stations of 250 KV (33kv/440 volts) were completed under Samirdh Seema Yojan (SSY) by KPDCL Electric Division Kupwara, electrifying the villages, ending the long wait of the residents.
- It is a big achievement and testimony of transformation down at the grass root level as only two months ago approval and allocation of this project was made.

1347. Centre Releases Over ₹284 Cr XV Finance Commission Grants for Rural Local Bodies in Mizoram, Odisha, Tripura
- On 27 August, 2025 It was reported that, The Centre has released more than ₹284 crore to rural local bodies in three states under the 15th Finance Commission (XV-FC) Untied Grants for the financial year 2025–26.
- According to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Mizoram received ₹14.27 crore for 827 eligible village councils under the 2023–24 grants.
- The funds, released on the recommendation of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Ministry of Jal Shakti, are disbursed in two instalments each year.

1348. Tripura Minister Ratan Lal Nath Launches Nine High Capacity Power Transmission Upgrade Projects worth ₹126 Crore
- Power Minister on 25 August,2025 laid the foundation stone for the re-stringing of nine high-capacity 132 KV transmission lines using High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) conductors at Bodhjungnagar near Agartala.
- The ₹126.33 crore project, spanning 165 circuit kilometers, is scheduled to be completed within a year.
- The minister underlined that Tripura’s peak power demand is projected to touch 700 MW by 2031-32, compared to the present base of 10.71 lakh registered consumers.
- The upgraded lines will connect key transmission routes, including Bodhjungnagar–Surjyamaninagar, Ambassa–Manu–P.K. Bari, Ambassa–Kamalpur, Rukhia–Udaipur, and Rabindranagar–NEEPCO Monarchak, among others.

- The project, funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC) at a cost of 4.76 crore rupees aims to address the university’s growing need for student accommodation.
- Gracing the event as Chief Guest, NEC Secretary, Satinder Kumar Bhalla lauded the university’s achievements, including securing over 150 patents, and urged the institution to explore funding opportunities through its alumni network and the private sector.

1350. Manipur: PHED Launches First Online Water Billing Portal For Imphal Areas
- On August 27,2025 It was reported that, PHED Manipur launched its first online billing portal (bills.phedmanipur.com) at Khoyathong, Imphal West, covering IMC and Greater Imphal areas.
- The portal aims to ensure transparent, accurate billing and convenient digital payments, with grievance redressal and alerts, reducing manual workload.
- Since January 2025, 50,498 meters installed generating ₹91.5 lakh; features 24×7 access, online new connection applications, helpline support, and upcoming consumption-based tariff system.
